About Me:

Position: Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) Research Software Engineer -II

Current responsibilities:

  • Responsible for development NOAA polar-orbiter satellite algorithm development library (ADL) tool used for generation of level-1 and level-2 imagery.
  • Performance, optimization, and scalability of projects on CPU and/or GPUs.

About Me:

Kumar received his MS in Computer Science from Wichita State University and MS in Software Engineering from JNTU India. Prior to CIRA, he has worked in the roles of Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Southwestern college, KS and as Software Engineer at Innerspec Technologies, VA.

He has also worked (Visiting Faculty) with the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory on the project, “SUNDIALS and Interoperability With Other Mathematical Libraries”.  His research interests include scientific computation, machine learning, and data privacy.

Kumar has received a best paper award and his work was also selected to be presented to legislators at KS Capitol Graduate Research Summit.
