Yijie Zhu joined CIRA in Oct. 2022 as a Postdoctoral Fellow. Yijie has a multidisciplinary education background. He obtained his B.S. in Geosciences and Business from both the University of Waterloo and the China University of Geosciences (Beijing), his M.EnvSci in Climate Change Impact Assessment from the University of Toronto, and his Ph.D. in Geography, Environmental Science and Policy from the University of South Florida.

Prior to joining CIRA, Yijie’s works revolved around tropical cyclone intensity decay at the post-landfall stage, during his doctoral studies and as a remote visiting scientist at NCAR.

Yijie now works with the RAMMB Tropical Cyclone group on several projects including the tropical cyclone intensity responses to the pre-storm ocean conditions and also the cyclone phase space during the extratropical cyclone transition.
