North American Regional-scale Flux Estimation and Observing System Design for the NASA Carbon Monitoring System
CSU Project #: 5-36568Sponsor: National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)
Primary Investigator: Chris O'Dell
Start Date: July 24th, 2012
End Date: July 23rd, 2014
Objectives:
- Estimate North American CO2 fluxes for July 2009 – December 2010 and for Summer 2012 using ground-based, aircraft, and satellite observations of atmospheric CO2, and evaluate the consistency among estimates obtained using various subsets of available data.
- Conduct a limited number of network design studies to consider what combination of ground and airborne assets best complement existing and planned satellite observations for reliably estimating anthropogenic and biological fluxes at regional to continental scales.
