AFWA Coupled Assimilation and Prediction System Development at CIRA
CSU Project #: 5-31546Sponsor: University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR)
Primary Investigator: Dr. Andrew S. Jones
Start Date: October 1st, 2012
End Date: February 28th, 2013
Objectives:
- The focus of the CSU ACAPS FY12 activities will be the analysis of the ACAPS cloud performance during the 2012 HyMeX field experiment case study (for details see: http://www.hymex.org/).
- CSU will deliver satellite cloud products to NCAR for verification test purposes of the ACAPS case studies.
- In FY12, CSU will implement a full diagnostic package based on MET to verify the cloud analysis and forecast products. CSU will also conduct inter-comparison experiments during the HyMeX field campaign. CSU will interact with AFWA and NCAR scientists to interpret and publish the results, and make recommendations for future ACAPS enhancements.
