Orbiting Carbon Observatory (OCO-2) Task
CSU Project #: 5-31995Sponsor: Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL)
Primary Investigator: Chris O'Dell
Start Date: August 22nd, 2011
End Date: March 25th, 2013
Objectives:
- Overall management and coordination will be provided by O'Dell. He will direct the R&D at CSU, and collaborate closely with colleagues at JPL, JAXA and NIES.
- Update and maintain orbit simulators necessary to support analysis and updates of algorithms.
- Prepare an overall schedule, budget and workforce profile for execution of the tasks with monthly resolution.
- Provide informal monthly status reports to the OCO-2 Task Contract Technical Manager (CTM) (viewgraph format) on the CSU effort including accomplishments, schedule status, and workforce status.
- Provide monthly, quarterly financial reporting and financial status against the plan.
- Participate in weekly teleconferences to coordinate and exchange information on the status of the overall OCO-2 effort; Interface with OCO-2 Project Manager and Project Scientist as necessary; Participate in meetings at JPL as needed (planned for twice per year); Participate in meetings at JAXA/NIES as needed (planned for once per year); Attend and present at Science Team meetings.
- Provide science leadership to achieve performance of the full-physics (FP) algorithm, including assessment of solar geometry and analysis of simulator tests, as necessary to meet OCO-2 Level 1 requirements.
- Support Thermal Vacuum testing of the OCO-2 instrument.
- Support vicarious calibration of the GOSAT instrument.
- Provide assessments and updates to the OCO-2 cloud screening algorithm.
