A global high-resolution fossil fuel CO2 inventory built from assimilation of in situ and remotely-sensed datasets to advance satellite greenhouse gas
CSU Project #: 5-35532Sponsor: Arizona State University
Primary Investigator: Dr. David Baker
Start Date: March 10th, 2011
End Date: March 9th, 2014
Objectives:
- Develop and test a modeling and analysis system for simulating the global hourly distribution of atmospheric CO2 on a 0.5 x 0.67 grid with 55 levels.
- Implement the new global fossil fuel CO2 emissions estimates into the modeling system developed in year 1, and evaluate the results using an in-situ network of more than 30 continuous sampling locations.
- We will use the evaluated and improved analysis system to perform flux estimation that jointly assimilates the available emissions data, night lights data, and observed CO2 observations (both in-situ and satellite products).
