Objectives:
- Conduct field visits to national park sites for inventory and quantification of night sky visibility in order to complete assessment of all Class I airshed parks. Parks may include Voyagers NP, Pictured Rocks NS, Sleeping Bear Dunes NS, Great Smoky Mountains NP, and Everglades NP.
- Provide other technical assistance as needed to agency on topics such as light pollution physics, outdoor lighting mitigations, ecological impacts of artificial light, and outreach strategies.
- Assist with preparing reports and sharing of data with parks, other federal lands, and the public.
- Promote education and understanding of light pollution, and promote appreciation for natural night skies. This will include updating and printing of the Junior Ranger Night Explorer publication, which is currently used by the NPS and other organizations.
- Prepare a final report on the project.
