The Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (CIRA) at Colorado State University seeks to fill a part-time (75% FTE) Research Coordinator position for its collaborative research as a Cooperative Institute with the National Park Service in Fort Collins, Colorado. The office is located in the CIRA building on the CSU Foothills campus in Fort Collins.
Background:
The National Park Service (NPS) collaborates with other federal and state organizations to monitor air quality in national parks and other class I areas. This collaboration involves over 10 CSU/CIRA and NPS federal researchers and scientists who interact daily in a close research partnership at CIRA, as well as in cooperation with the NPS Air Resource Division in Denver. This position requires organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to learn quickly and work collaboratively and cooperatively in an office setting. This position also requires the ability to adapt to changing circumstances, ability to prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
Responsibilities:
The individual in this position will provide comprehensive administrative support to the Principal Investigator (PI) of the project and the 10+ CIRA and NPS personnel working in the group. The individual in this position must be able to manage deadlines, multi-task, focus on detail, and take initiative and communicate effectively (written and verbal skills) while completing the following duties:
- Assist the CIRA Principal Investigator (PI) with research proposal preparation, including budgets, statements of work, required forms, etc.
- Consult with colleagues at the Office of Sponsored Programs, federal funding agency representatives, and others to assure the proposal packages are prepared correctly and to shepherd them through the funding process once selected.
- Maintain accounting records and provide PI with periodic analyses of expenditures. Ensure compliance with and proper accounting of research funds (in excess of $1M) from federal agencies.
- Initiate procurement requests and track document progress and product delivery; identify and solve problems on behalf of PI.
- Prepare and manage budgets.
- Be accountable for the maintenance and accuracy of multiple spreadsheets of research-related administrative information on behalf of the PI in accordance with audit rules and procedures.
- Process and support travel requests by both CIRA and NPS (federal) researchers, including maintenance of all travel support documentation and submission of all travel vouchers.
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree.
* Experience with research proposal guidelines and submission processes.
* Experience preparing budgets and writing budget justification narratives.
* Research project experience within a university or funded research environment.
* Basic accounting knowledge and experience using financial management reporting systems.
* Strong organizational skills.
* Strong skills in MS Office suite.
Desired Qualifications:
* Experience with procurement requests and procedures.
* Experience processing travel requests and submitting travel vouchers.
* Previous experience in a coordinator role at CSU.
* Experience with proofing and formatting documents.
* Experience with technical editing and graphical display software.
* Experience with graphical display software

* Publication database maintenance skills.
* Web site maintenance and development skills.
* Excellent written and oral skills.
Annual Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications
