Potential Computer Science Positions

The Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (CIRA) at Colorado State University anticipates professional position openings over the next six months in the area of computer programming. Possible position titles are Research Associate I, II, III or IV and Senior Research Associate. CIRA conducts independent as well as collaborative research with various research laboratories of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Park Service (NPS) in Fort Collins, Boulder, and Lakewood. Position openings may be in any of the three cities. As positions become available, your resume will be reviewed along with the others in our current applicant pool.

Responsibilities:
The work environment for computer professionals is a mix of weather-related research support and technology transition efforts that create advanced computer applications to support weather forecasting, modeling, and educational activities. As such, CIRA is looking for computer professionals with a range of experience in the following areas: General Technical, Database Management; Scientific Programming (includes object-oriented C++, Java, FORTRAN, C, real-time data manipulation, and massively parallel computing), Network Development (includes Client/Server, LAN and Web-based activities) and/or Graphical User Interface Development. Applicants must indicate their specific area of research in cover letters.

Qualifications:
CIRA requires that employees have a college degree. CIRA will be looking for bachelors and masters-level candidates with degrees in computer science or related fields. Computer professionals with atmospheric data and algorithm experience are preferred however some entry-level positions are also periodically identified.
