Biography
Don Reinke has extensive experience in automated processing meteorological satellite data, satellite derived cloud analyses, scientific programming, and real-time meteorological support systems management. He is currently a Research Associate at the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (CIRA), with a primary position of: CloudSat Data Processing Center Manager. His professional experience includes a wide range of duties as a research scientist and project manager. Don spent 21 years as an Air Force meteorologist and satellite data processing software developer. After joining CIRA he has been a project leader for a number of multi-year research programs related to the processing and analysis of global digital meteorological satellite imagery and related ancillary data sets, most notably the CHANCES, NVAP, and CloudSat projects. He managed the CIRA computer lab and data processing facility, including the local area network and all hardware and software systems used by researchers at CIRA. He currently manages the Research Support group that provides data, data analysis computer applications, and technical support to CIRA. His most recent duties have been focused on the implementation and operation of the innovative CloudSat Data Processing Center and the CloudSat Data Access and Support Center. Don has been a lead or co-author on more than seventy publications since arriving at CIRA. Recent Work
