Biography

Jeff Lemke received a BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1989, majoring in computer graphics, and minoring in computer animation, photography, and video production. He took additional courses in 1992-93 in desktop publishing and commercial graphic design at the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, and came to work at CIRA in Jan., 1994.

His abilities are in the area of designing clean and direct illustrations, logos, 2D animations, interactive programs and web content, slide presentations, video graphics, and press-ready documents, and can adapt and incorporate other material as needed from a wide variety of sources. He has experience with the following software:

Recent Work

At CIRA, his duties include:

  • translation of researchers ideas or raw data into finished visuals, which involves the creation or modifi­cation of both vector and raster graphics for use in various printed and digital media, such as in reports, posters, brochures, flyers, calendars, slides, transparencies, digital slide shows, and interactive programs;
  • procuring, altering, and enhancing other material from various sources such as the web, landscape modeling software, stock photo agencies, digital photos submitted by clients, and scans of my own slides;
  • design and creation of interactive CD-ROM and web-based presentations, both with and without soundtracks, using Adobe authoring software, and Sound Forge for digital audio editing;
  • design, assembly, and coordination of publications, entailing the design of covers and all interior visual elements and graphics and their layouts, assem­bling all the elements in QuarkXPress, and dealing directly with print shops in the gather­ing of bids, delivering of electronic files, selecting of papers and bindings, and the handling of any problems;
  • creation of titles, graphics, and 2-D animations for video productions;
  • photographing of national parks, staff, equipment, and other pertinent subject matter, and the scanning and enhancing of slides and printed source materials for various needs.
