Biography

Glen Pankow earned his B.A. in Chemistry from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1981 and his M.S. in Computer Science in 1987. He is currently working at NOAA's Earth System Research Laboratory (ESRL) as a CIRA affiliate, and is involved with many aspects of data acquisition, processing, visualization, and storage. Within ESRL's Data Systems Group of the Global Systems Division, he has worked in most aspects of software development and systems analysis, primarily in infrastructural systems, and is lately branching out into more world-wide web standard interfaces for data and their metadata inventory and visualization. Mr. Pankow is also a part of the core team responsible for NOAA's Research and Development High Performance Computing System (RDHPCS), and is chief lead for the Mass Storage System, which provides for the long-term storage of RDHPCS and ESRL data.
