Biography

Chris MacDermaid earned his B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics from the Colorado State University in 1994. Following graduation, Chris worked as a consultant at Interleaf and as a software developer at Spatial Technologies.

Chris became a CIRA associate in 2001 and currently works for NOAA's Earth System Research Laboratory (ESRL) in the Global Systems Division (GSD) as lead of the Data Systems Group (DSG). His areas of expertise include meteorological data acquisition, data dissemination, and data standards.

Recent Work

Most recently, Chris has been working as a technical coordinator for ESRL/GSD on the FAA's NNEW (NextGen Network Enabled Weather) project and the National Weather Service's NextGen project. Chris is working as a researcher and technical contributor on the NEIS project (NOAA Environmental Information Service). Chris is also working on the NSF EarthCube project.
