March brought near normal temperatures and below normal precipitation to the Colorado Springs vicinity. The average high was right on target at 52.3° compared to the normal of 52.1°. Overnight lows were a little on the cool side averaging 24.7° compared to the normal value of 26.0°. Extremes ranged from a high of 73° on the 15th to a low of 5° on the 25th. It was an extremely dry month for this weather station with 0.18 inches of precipitation recorded. The normal value is 1.00 inches. There was 4.2 inches of snow during the month with a maximum snow depth of 3 inches measured on the 1st.
February 2013
February brought cooler and wetter than normal conditions to the Colorado Springs vicinity. The average temperature was 41.2° compared to the normal high of 44.8°. The average low was 17.5° which was two degrees cooler than the normal value of 19.5°. Temperature extremes ranged from a high of 62° on the 17th to a low of 9° on the 23rd. There was 0.90 inches of precipitation measured during February. The normal value is 0.34 inches. There was 10.6 inches of snow recorded with a maximum depth of 7 inches on both the 21st and 22nd.
January 2013
January brought near normal temperatures with below normal precipitation to the Colorado Springs area. The average high for the month was 44.7°, slightly above the normal value of 43.2°. Overnight lows were a little on the cool side with an average temperature of 15.8°. The normal January low is 17.7°. Temperature extremes ranged from a high of 68° on the 23rd to a low of -4° on the 15th. Precipitation for the month was 0.18 inches, which included 3.2 inches of snow. The normal precip for the month is 0.32 inches.
December 2012
Temperatures in Colorado Springs were slightly above normal for the month of December, with the daytime high averaging 44.6° compared to the normal value of 42.1°. Overnight lows were just about on target, averaging 17.3° compared to the normal value of 17.5°. Extremes ranges from 67° on the 5th to a low of -3° on the 10th. Precipitation for the month was 0.26 inches, which was slightly below the normal value of 0.34 inches. Colorado Springs received 5.4 inches of snow for the month. The greatest snow depth was 3 inches on the 9th.

La Nina conditions mean an earlier start to summer recreation activities along the Southern Front Range. With snowpack amounts in the southern Rockies lagging behind the northern part of the state, less spring runoff means drier trails and access to recreational areas sooner.
