Sounder Precipitable Water -

Where skies are clear, the GOES' sounder can produce a temperature and moisture profile of the atmosphere, from which total column precipitable water values may be calculated. On RAMSDIS the values are given in mm. Satellite derived lifted indexes should not be directly compared to those derived from radiosonde data, but rather monitored for spatial and temporal tendencies.
