Please change your links to the new version of Tropical RAMSDIS Online:
Tropical RAMSDIS OnLine is used to display animated real-time satellite images of tropical weather systems. Five geostationary satellites are used to track tropical cyclones in all regions of the globe. GOES-East views of Atlantic hurricanes, tropical storms, or easterly waves, are given priority.
Color enhanced water vapor images and visible images cover large areas, while matching 4km Mercator remaps of color enhanced IR and visible are shown in the "floater" areas. 3.9 micrometer data are merged with the visible imagery, for night-time viewing. The "floater" areas are occasionally moved to follow the storm.
A GOES-East 1-km resolution visible loop is displayed in a storm relative mode. A motion vector is used to display each image according to the circulation center and its present motion. Any deviation of this center from the center of the image is due to a difference between the actual storm motion and the prescribed storm motion, which is updated when necessary.
