Below is a checklist of World Meteorological Day (WMD) postal items (stamps, souvenir sheets, aerogrammes, postal cards, etc.). Catalog numbers, years of issue, and notes on the items featured are given when available. WMD has been celebrated around the world on 23 March every year since the first WMD in 1961. WMD commemorates the entry-into-force, on 23 March 1950, of the Convention of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). Therefore the 1st WMD is actually the 11th anniversary of that Convention, but that is not how WMD is counted, since it was not celebrated for the first 10 years. Many countries have issued stamps to commemorate WMD.
