![]() Today's discussion focuses upon the southern coast of California where at this time a rather intense midlatitude cyclone is approaching from the west. Shown in the loop below is a rather good example of warm air advection. In this visible imagery it is clear that the low level flow, indicated by the somewhat brighter clouds, is from the south. This is supported by the surface wind reports in the first image. This is contrasted by the upper and middle level flow which is from the west. This is a clear veering of the wind with height indicating strong warm air advection. visible loop |
