Rain rates increased rapidly following the arrival of the outflow jet from the east. Six-hour accumulations approached 500-year, 24-hour amounts within just a few hours. As noted, even the low-lying regions away from rivers and creeks - especially within the Canal Importation (Green) and the Spring Creek (Red) basins - began to accumulate deep, fast flowing water.
