We are on STAND-DOWN for CLEX operations for Friday, 26 October 2001. Operations
for both the Wyoming King Air and the SPEC Lear Jet are standing down. The next
update will be no later than 1500 MDT (2100Z) on Friday, 26 October 2001.
FORECAST DISCUSSION:
The long wave ridge over the Rockies has been bringing abundant Pacific moisture
into western Wyoming (upstream from LBF) only to tease CLEX'ers by dissipating in
the lee of the mountains. By tomorrow the ridge starts to increase in amplitude
and progress eastward taking the bulk of the Pac moisture into South Dakota. This
pattern will leave LBF under mostly clear skies. Adding to the moisture woes is
the 500mb jet location. The jet will be NE of LBF causing increased negative
vorticity and subsidence over LBF.
OUTLOOK:
Saturday looks like another cloud free day at the ridge axis moves directly over
LBF. Sunday is the next potentially favorable day as we move into SW'erly flow
on the back side of the ridge.
Next update: 1500 MDT (2100Z) Friday, 26 October 2001.
